About Karen

Karen_&_Julie

Karen Slagle was born in Taiwan, to Christian missionary parents.  Living there until the age of 17, she came to the United States for college and has lived in the US since that time.

Karen began singing in public at an early age and has been singing ever since.  She and her daughter, Julie, share a passion for music and enjoy performing together.

Karen loves to encourage women by sharing her story, which includes overcoming:

-       Challenges of raising a special needs child

-       Painful divorce after 24 years of marriage

-       Loss of her second husband to cancer

-       Personal trial of breast cancer

Her message is one of hope, conveying that with God’s help you can live a joyous and overcoming life.  She uses humor and total honesty to relate her story.

“Over many years, I’ve seen Karen & Julie journey through a host of big and little difficulties.  I have seen Karen suffer great loss and still be kind and funny.  Julie has borne her limitations with grace and humor that far exceed her stature.  When they speak and sing, you see God’s imprint of serenity, and you are changed by God’s love.  They are in this thing together, and their lovely faces are reflections of God’s goodness.  They each could have been bound as victims, but they are free because of God’s amazing grace.”…..Beverly Blackstone

  4. Sis,

Love your new blog. It is a great way to keep people up on what you are doing. You know you are my favorite sister, hands down. If Tim was a girl he would be in the running, but you would still win.
